This is a game where the roles are reversed - you're playing as a virtual pet who has to respond to commands from a human.

If you're stuck, check at the bottom of this description for some tips! You can probably tell this is a first attempt at a game jam, but it was a great experience to think of a unique concept and get something complete.

Story

It's your brother's birthday, and your parents got him the hottest new toy -- a virtual pet!

You couldn't wait to ask for a turn to play, so you carefully unwrapped the gift ahead of time for a quick play session and planned to put it back like nothing ever happened.

Unfortunately, the virtual pet game is cursed! You got sucked into the world of the game, and the only way out is to earn 10 pips and win the game. Earning pips is easy: you get one pip every time you take the action the player has commanded.

There's just one problem -- you've lost your ability to understand human language! You'll have to decipher what your brother's commands mean through trial and error, figuring out what the commands for each action have in common.

Thankfully, you've got some rudimentary memory (32 kB of it!) so you can keep track of the correct action for the past three commands. That should help you piece together the meaning.

HINTS:

Every command may be different, but they follow some common rules that apply to each action. The order of the symbols, the number of them, how they are grouped together, these could all be

The hints that appear in the game are limited - your memory is limited after all, you're a virtual pet! But if you're still having trouble, you can write down the commands that match past actions and see if you notice any patterns over time.

Wasn't sure what to think of this. Really glad I gave it a go! Some may find it tricky at first, but ultimately a very satisfying puzzle.
